Roxburghe Hotel & GC

This track is one of the best looking parkland tracks the UK has to offer

The Roxburghe GC thumb

Set in the rolling countryside and woodland of the Scottish borders it is hardly surprising that The Roxburghe Golf Course is one of the best looking parkland courses in the UK.

Situated three miles south of Kelso in the Duke of Roxburghe's 56,000 acre estate this championship course is as good looking as it is tough. The Roxburghe can stretch itself to over 7100 yards from the very back tees and although the par-72 course only opened in 1997 you would never guess its age.

Standing on the first tee you immediately get the impression that what lies ahead is another of Scotland's established and highly esteemed inland courses and indeed this layout belongs in such company.

Among the most memorable holes on the front nine is the fun par-four second, the striking par-three fourth over water and the 581-yard 5th ? a genuine par five.

The back nine starts with two great holes in the dog legs of the par-four 10th and par-five 11th, a sequence that could be played again and again. A tough finish to the round means you will savour the post-round pint

Best Hole: 14th hole, the 571-yard par-five signature hole has fantastic views of both the viaduct and the River Teviot.

Green fees: £50 per round, £70 per day.
