There can be few more beautiful settings for golf than the “bonnie, bonnie banks of Loch Lomond”.
Designed by Jay Morrish and Tom Weiskopf, the layout at Loch Lomond became famous in the 1990s, as it welcomed the first Loch Lomond World Invitational in 1996 won by Thomas Bjorn.
The course hosted a European Tour event in the week prior to the Open Championship every season until 2010.
It’s a quality layout with incredible views across the loch and over the surrounding mountains. Many of the holes play between the pines and firs, offering a great sense of seclusion and serenity.
Others, such as the par-5 6th and par-4 7th skirt the stunning loch side, delivering expansive panoramas.
The green complexes at Loch Lomond are fabulous. The silky smooth putting surfaces feature some perplexing undulations and their surrounds are superbly contoured so as to demand a skilled short game.
As a private members’ club, the course is lightly played and, as such, is maintained in near-perfect condition throughout the playing season.
The club boasts fine practice facilities with a large, grassed range and manicured short-game area. The clubhouse is pretty special too – Rossdhu House is a Georgian manor house dating from 1773, and the quality of service there is second to none.
+ You will receive service of the very highest order
– Private members’ club not open to casual visitors
“Very rarely have I travelled to a course that asks so many questions of your game. This is a great strategic examination for golfers of all abilities.”
“The clubhouse is a wonder and the men’s locker room a dream, with plush leather chairs and beautiful wooden lockers lining the walls.”
