Notts, or Hollinwell, provides one of the finest inland tests in the country. The course is full of variety, working its way across undulating turf lined with gorse and fern, through valleys, up hills and back down again. The 11th has a decidedly linksy flavour as it twists its way up to the green, while the course then takes on a moorland feel on the 12th before plunging dramatically back down via the glorious par-3 13th, often calling for a headcover to be removed. This is a serious golf course that sets its stall out early on with big holes like the 2nd and 4th, and then never really lets up.

Panellists' comments: "Big hitting is required especially on the closing stretch"; "A feeling of seclusion after the long entrance drive"
