16 ROYAL PORTRUSH – Dunluce
Architect: Colt 2006 position: 17 Stats: 6,641 yds; par 72; SSS 73 GF: £60-£180 T: 028 7082 2311 W: royalportrushgolfclub.com
The winding road into Portrush only adds to the excitement of playing the famous links as you are given an incredible view of the fine test that lies ahead.
This stunning stretch of coastline includes some of the most tricky approach shots in golf, mainly thanks to superb greenside bunkering.
The 4th and 5th stand out as world-class par 4s, both requiring well thought-out tee shots followed by approaches that are severely punished if offline.
The 5th green is particularly intimidating as it seems to fall off into the ocean backdrop.
Settings do not come any more spectacular. POH
