Portmarnock

Portmarnock Red & Blue golf course. No. 29 in Golf Monthly's Top 100 Golf Courses

29 PORTMARNOCK – Red & Blue

Architect: Ross, Pickerman
2006 position: 36
Stats: 6,934 yds; par 72; SSS 72
GF: €180-€215
T: 00353 1 8462968

Stunning natural links course built on a promontory of sand that is constantly expanding as the sea gives back more land.

There are three loops of nine, with the Red and the Blue making up the Championship course.

A real feature is the trio of short holes, all excellent and played in different directions with completely different aspects.

Of these, the 12th is shortish, well-bunkered and has a wicked slope in the green, while the 15th is the signature hole played along the shore edge.

The setting of the 1st tee continues to be one of the most stirring in golf. SP

+ History; excellent condition; well-honed visitor experience
- Expensive; overflown by planes coming in and out of Dublin airport

Mr Nigel Power

Portmarnock Golf Clubwas fantastic from getting past the guard in the sentry box, until we had played and eaten. We were treated like long lost friends! An unforgettable experience.
