38 NORTH BERWICK
Architect: Unknown 2006 position: 35 Stats: 6,456 yds; par 71; SSS 72 GF: £30-£85 T: 01620 895040 W: northberwickgolfclub.com Quite simply one of my favourite places to play golf on the planet.
The first time I teed it up here I had struggled out of bed at dawn, but one look from the 2nd tee out over the North Sea to the far-off fairway and I was soon wide awake.
The layout squeezes the very best out of its stunning scenery with the famous Bass Rock and the island of Fidra looming on a dozen or so holes.
The 13th, which has a wall running along the sunken green, starts a run of three wonderful holes that can’t help but put a smile on your face. LN + Good value; old-fashioned friendly welcome; wonderfully varied views - Quirky features may irk some; popularity means it’s often busy
