A beautiful heathland course in a wonderfully picturesque and natural setting. Off the back tees, it provides one of the hardest tests of golf in our Top 100.
The fast fairways are lined with deep, punishing rough, strategically placed bunkers, and small, well-guarded greens. This gives the course a very linksy feel.
There are mature pine trees, silver birch, chestnut and colourful areas of gorse and heather, but in the main, it is characterised by many stretches of gloriously open heathland.
Even from the forward tees, long accurate driving is essential. RS
