Driving along the winding coastal road from Machynlleth to Aberdovey is like watching a good movie trailer – it builds your anticipation for the prospect ahead.
Here, the mountains have fallen into the sea creating a thin sliver of true linksland that somehow manages to be both traditional and unique.
The course follows an out-and-back path that is flanked by an old railway line and dunes that mark the boundary between the course and the beach. These are where the most interesting holes can be found.
The short par-3 12th is the epitome of naturally rugged, British links golf. NT

Park yourself in a local hostelry and play 3 of the the top 100 courses in the UK in a couple of days start at Aberdovey then move up to Royal Harlech and then Nevin all 3 courses are a golfers dream come true play twice a day and the courses can alter dramatically with the wind changing direction all the time, the hospitality and food are brilliant, I only wish I didn't live 4000 miles away across the pond
