No 76 - Rye - Old
The Rye Old course is a sporty, old-fashioned links in excellent year-round condition. The great lunch here is another bonus
76 RYE - Old
Architect: Colt 2006 position: New entry Stats: 6,278 yds; par 68; SSS 71 GF: very limited availability T: 01797 225241 W: ryegolfclub.co.uk
One of the more private, less commercial clubs, Rye offers a classic links experience with many memorable holes.
The five par 3s are terrific and there are nine or 10 really good long par 4s with just the one par 5 to kick things off.
There are typical Harry Colt bunkers with raised faces for maximum visual effect, and a number of blind shots over ridges where local knowledge, a yardage chart and an element of good fortune could come in useful.
History and tradition line every corner of the clubhouse, from where there are excellent views over the course. RS
+ Sporty, old-fashioned links in excellent year-round condition; great lunch - Not easy to get a game; blind shots really require local knowledge
