Seaton Carew is the 10th oldest club in England and is most unusual in that it has 22 holes offering up five different configurations, with the Old and the Brabazon the most common.
While there is no doubt that this is a well-laid-out and stern test of golf, with a number of dramatic shots, the conditioning can be a little disappointing with greens not quite on a par with those at many links courses, accounting for its drop in the rankings.
This is a shame as with a little TLC, it could be a hugely enjoyable links.
That said, it is great value and undoubtedly the north-east’s star links. RS
+ Friendly club; good value fees; 22 holes give lots of layout options
- Industrial surroundings; not in the best condition

I played this course the 1st time this weekend, had a bit of an upset with a trip to Vegas that got canceled at the last minute, i jumped in car started at ganton on the Friday, moved up to seaton Carew on the sat, I throughly enjoyed the course, some great linksey holes, green were running true, flat but a little slow, rough was up great experience and I think the industrial back drop added to it's charm, cheap also
