Bovey Castle is a beautiful experience with the rivers Bovey and Bowden featuring on many holes. The reasonable greens fees make this an attractive track to experience

Donald Steel and Tom Mackenzie have overhauled the old Abercromby design to create a must-play course with the opening nine holes set below the magnificent castle.

The rivers Bovey and Bowden feature on many holes, most notably the superb 7th where they encroach on both sides.

The back nine is quite different with holes on higher ground. They offer a less severe challenge and a chance to take in the fantastic backdrop of Dartmoor.

Bovey Castle is never that busy and, but for the sound of the odd 4X4 chugging up a country lane, the silence is golden. MH
