Set in deepest Lincolnshire, this heathland course is renowned for a strong cast of holes and the challenge, positioning and indeed depth of its bunkers. The front nine is more open than the back nine but that's not to say it's any easier - every hole is a challenge here. Woodhall Spa is unpretentious and exceptional value, but it's a real trek to get to.

Panellists' comments: "The flow of holes is good, the variety of shots excellent and the need for strategic thinking almost peerless"

Granted it is a nice track, however, its very flat and al the holes seems to roll into one. The Half Way Cabin is amazing mind you and the breakfast out of this world!!
The new course at Woodhall is every bit as good.

Great test of golf on a a course that proves consistancy and accuracy will lead to lower scores than length off the tee, even with this in mind the course might benefit from a little legnthening from the red tees. The bunkers are legendary and with 365 on the course the best you can hope for is to avoid the ones with steps/ladders down into them -when your playing partners are only aware of your struggles by the sand flying over the lip.

We find this the ideal course to visit early in the season (when the green fees are great value) because of its focus on accuracy and how often you are faced a difficult pitch or/and recovery shot, and we have been coming for the last five years and hope to be doing so for many years to come.

The halfway house is well stocked and the club house managing to mix modern and traditional styles effortessly.

The practice facilities also warrent mention and are the best I've ever seen with some of the most approacable Professionals (however it may be worth noting that the short game area is only available for use under thre supervision of a fullt qualified pro.)
