The King's is regarded as James Braid's masterpiece. With views of the Ochil Hills, Ben Vorlich and the distant Trossachs, the King's delivers that most desirable combination of superb golf in a breathtaking setting. Holes rise and fall over naturally undulating terrain as you depart from, and head back to, the hotel's Dormy Clubhouse that is receiving a £2.5 million facelift this winter. There's a wonderfully fair finish, with the faintest of eagle hopes on the 14th and 18th balanced out by tests of length on the 15th and accuracy on both the 16th and 17th.

Panellists' comments: "Springy moorland turf and panoramic views towards the hills"; "A beautiful and relaxing place to play golf"
