The next best 100 golf courses
Pyle & Kenfig golf course
We consider and assess many more than 100 golf courses in our ranking process and invariably some ultimately just miss out. This is an alphabetical list of what, in our view, are the 100 next best golf courses in the UK & Ireland - some slipping out of the Top 100 as newcomers hit the scene, some bubbling away as they continue to improve and others coming onto our radar for the first time. Have we got it right? We think so, but if you think otherwise, write and tell us what other courses should be featured here...

Broadstone Golf Club without doubt surely must be included in the Golf Monthly Top 100 courses in the UK?
It's one of the most traditional and true tests of Heathland golf you will find anywhere in the UK.
Almost every hole feels as though you are on your own private golf course, such is the sheers size of the site, many golf clubs have managed to fit at least 36 holes on to a similar size piece of land!
The views of the heathland with the gorgeous heather colours and the statuesque Scots Pines make you want to stand and "soak in" the surrounding scenery. The course itself is a true test for even the highest standard of Golfer, this year (2011) the Club is playing host to the Carris trophy (EGU Boys Stroke play championship) and has in recent years held many prestigious national championships and events. If justice is to be done and rankings are for true golf courses that are accessible to the Golfing public, then Broadstone Golf Club must surely be included in the Golf Monthly Top 100. I would suggest to anyone to go and play the course as a visitor (Green fee - £58) and disagree!

reading your article on the top 100 courses, very impresive ,but does any one play golf in the north east of england, i do and i know that we have some of the finest courses you would wish to play, why not visit us and try for youselves try my club stocksfield an undulating course a mixture of tree lined fairways on the first 9 open fairways on the back 9 ,a test of golf and in the summer months what a place to be.

Putting the PGA National at the Belfy in your GB&I second hundred is absurd. There are perhaps a 1,000 courses in GB&I better than the PGA.

It would be really great to have the top 200 courses on a "clickable" map on your website, - very useful when organising society golf trips!
