I used my new Benross VX6 irons for the first time a couple of weeks ago in the GM office Order Of Merit event. I was looking forward to using them, especially with Benross describing them as “ideally suited to club golfers looking for a players’ profile iron with the ultimate forgiveness only a deep cavity back can offer.”

Now I have a handicap of 18 and hadn’t played a round of golf since October, but had been down the range tirelessly in the weeks beforehand trying them out. I had been reasonably pleased with them, as I was on the course. I can only really blame any poor shots on my poor swing, rather than the irons themselves. The forgiveness was certainly noticeable, which I appreciated since I was still a little rusty. This helped me score respectably around a testing course - Remedy Oak - so in hindsight I was more than happy.

The set goes from 5-SW with an option to have hybrids or long irons added to these. The combination of an undercut pocket cavity back, extreme perimeter weighting and thin face technology make the VX6 a forgiving iron.
