Srixon Z-Star ball review
Review Date: 3rd March 2009
Design and Tech Benefits
The new Srixon Z-Star ball is composed of a soft cover, thin urethane layer and an extremely large core providing the user with a combination of distance, spin control and soft feel. A new cover and dimple design will benefit those who produce solid striking with longer clubs, as well as offering improved spin control from the rough.

Golf Monthly Verdict
Like last year's Z-UR and Z-URS, Srixon's Z-Star ball offers a great feel-they are also very hard wearing for a premium ball. They have a noticeably softer feel than previous models, but still seem to hold their line on long shots.

I must admit that I only tried this ball after finding one out on the course one evening when I was out for a practice. I was pleasantly surprised.
It felt nice and hot off the driver yet soft off the wedges. Naturally this meant I had good length off the tee and I was able to lob short shots high into the air even off of three quarter swings, just right for those shots that land gently and roll out minimally.
Using it alongside a Pro V doesnt result in any loss in distance, spin or feel for me. And because they are not quite as widely used as the Pro V I dont have to go to increasingly silly lenghts to find a unique marking to identify the ball as mine.
