Equipment review: MacGregor M59 fairway wood
Review Date: 4th September 2012
Design and Tech Benefits
The aerodynamic head features a low centre of gravity and is designed to produce a high launch. The contours on the sole of the club reduce drag and improve speed.
Golf Monthly Verdict
A head shape that will offend few and appeal to many. The high flight is ideal for anyone who struggles off the fairway.
But... the sole graphics don’t catch the eye as well as some.
PGA pro verdict:
The M59 driver impressed a couple of months ago, and so did its fairway wood stablemate. The shaft was a little heavy for me, but produced solid results. It was particularly impressive from the tee, offering a high flight, and will work well as a driver alternative.
Test Team Rating:
Visual appeal: 3/5
