Mizuno MX-200 & MX-100 irons review
Price: £75.00
The Mizuno MX-200 are designed for forgiveness with feel. They provide great confidence over long iron shots, as well as fantastic feel around the greens, whereas the Mizuno MX-100 provide a different type of result, the larger heads deliver endless forgiveness throughout the set, as well as a high flying ball flight.

Design and Tech Benefits
The new Mizuno MX-200 combines the feel of a forged iron with technology designed to offer enhanced forgiveness. The deep cavity has a reinforcement pad (known as Y-Tune) which expands the sweetspot and helps provide an extra nine yards per club than previous MX models. The y-shaped pad is situated towards the toe the area where most amateur mis-hits are made.
The MX-100 is a cast iron that also utilises an impact pad for improved feel on all manner of shots. A pocket cavity moves the centre of gravity low in the head to help produce a high-ball flight.
Golf Monthly Verdict
Unlike the new MP models there was a big difference between the MX-100 and MX-200 irons. While both clubs offered impressive forgiveness levels the MX-100s produced a significantly higher ball flight from almost any part of the face. The MX-200s inspired confidence without seeming too bulky at address and the soft forged feel is definitely noticeable next to the cast MX-100. Both sets offer plenty of forgiveness but if feel and feedback are high on your list, we reckon it's worth paying the extra money for the MX-200s.

I have played 1 round with MX-200 irons. I have to say that I am glad that I purchased them. The long irons are forgiving and the feel is soft. I had few mis-hits and I still was able to get quite long flights. With short irons I was able to shape the shots nicely and the feel was great. I can recommend them to mid-handicap players like myself.

I have always refrained from writing reviews about clubs, and i have never really believed that a peice of equipment can lower scores as dramatically as people claim. Since buying these clubs however all that is about to change. I currently play off 28, so the first thing i would like to say is don't be fooled by the *mid handicap* tag, i believe any golfer can use these irons. And that is certainly true if i can use them, so don't pass these clubs by if you are between 22-28 handicap and you feel they are for lower handicaps, just try them out, you will be surprised.
I have always been a good ball striker, but these clubs feel like nothing else, with a cast iron i can always feel a slight vibration in my hand when you strike the ball, but these forged clubs are so much different, i also get a very long and penetrating ball flight, instead of the high ball flight my old irons gave me. For anyone in the market for a premium set of quality irons i can't reccomend these enough, even if you are high handicap, give them a go, the only thing you have to lose is shots on the golf course. I have used these irons on aprroximately 12 rounds of golf now an i am shooting in the high to mid 80's where as before i was over a hundred, the result are truly staggering, and although my lessons helped, the majority of it is down to the clubs and the confidence they inspire. absolutely fantastic job mizuno and far better than any other iron on the market at the moment, and believe me, i tried them all.

I have just had a set of MX100 clubs fitted and expect delivery in late december. After testing several clubs, including the callaway big bertha 08's these were the most reliable and forgiving clubs I tried. 80% of hits were straight and my confidence was high when addressing the ball. The mid irons produced a higher flight than the long irons, however the pro reccommended a different shaft selection to modify this. I have taken his advice and will give you an update on the effect when I start to use them on the course.
The 4 iron was much more comforatble to hit than the big bertha which, with its wide sole tended to force a topped shot. The MX100 was able to give a clean contact behind the ball every time.

I received my MX200 Irons about 4 weeks ago, I took advantage of a personal fitting from my local Pro shop at Wellshurst Golf club, Like many club golfers I know you cannot buy a golf game, however my garage is testiment to my purchases over the years, looking to reduce my handicap. I was playing X18 irons which I found to be very good and I improved over the course of two seasons, I believe that moving to the Mizuno MX200 has taken me to another level, looking down on the clubs fills you with a confidence that makes you believe that this shot will go in the direction aimed, and have the distance associated with the iron used. I can now hit 3 and 4 irons from the fairway with a succes rate, not found in the Callaway irons good as they were, so forgiving, especially from the toe end miss hits. In all, these irons are first class, and with the personal fitting in the price, I think these irons will suit all handicaps, well worth a try.

I was lucky to find a set (4-pw) of these clubs on sale at £340. I had been looking at other Mizuno clubs and also at Cobras, and to be honest, the 200's were an impulse buy at the time, as I didnt know a great deal about them and I hadnt read the reviews at that point. Now I've read the reviews and all the info on the Mizuno website, I'm absolutley delighted with the purchase. I've played them once only, and they certainly improved my game. I'm not sure whether the improvment is down to the milled undercut, the flow forged heads or because they simply look and feel fantastic, and my attitude to playing has improved knowing that I am playing with a quality club - or maybe it's all of these things ?

I purchased a custom fit set of MX-200 irons in December from Portsmouth Golf Centre. I tried various irons before plumping for the MX-200s. The deciding factor was the ball striking feel and sound - different from all the other cast clubs I had tried. In addition, they are a set of irons I can grow into as my game progresses. I've played two rounds since and I can honestly say that they and the ongoing lessons have helped my game no end.
