Mizuno MX Fli-Hi hybrid

Price: £75.00

This new Mizuno hybrid is designed to replace either your 3, 4 or 5 iron! They essentially make the ball go higher, and are easier to hit!

Design and Tech Benefits

The Mizuno MX Fli-Hi is designed as a direct long iron replacement, available in 3, 4
and 5-iron lofts and lengths. As with the new Mizuno MX irons the sweetspot is positioned in the middle and toe of the club where most amateur mis-hits are made. Extra weight in the heel of the club helps promote a draw.

Golf Monthly Verdict

The length of this utility from toe to heel might put some players off, but the performance was superb. We were able to hit high-flying, soft landing shots that were ideal on long par 3s. It’s just a shame there is no 18° version.

When i went to my friends course they wre letting people test these clubs out so i did. My uncle has a clk fli high and it was alright, however this club was amazing the apperance is quite different in apperance and is slightly offset compared to the clk high fli. The drop off at the back lowers the center of gravity and for me inspires confidence however for some golfers this may be offputting. it seems as if the sweet spot extends out towards the toe which helped create a straight ball flight for offcenter hits which helped me tremebusly. i decided to tee of with this on the first tee as my drives have been all over the place lately, but as i looked down at the club and the drop off back and the offset made me feel confident and before i took my shot i knew the ball wasn't going to fly off to the right. I tested out the 23 degree version which replaces my four iron and there is one thing for sure with this club i got much better trejectory with my first hit of this club than ive ever had with my four iron so anyone struggling with there long irons this is certainly the club for you. furthermore this club makes a great sound it is easy to the ear and makes you feel great as you walk up to your next shot. Another thing about this club is the fact that any off center hits for me still flew straight i hit some shots that came out of the toe and flew as if i had just hit it out of the center, however i did find offcenter hits did lack some distance but overall a great club for all levels off ability.

I had always been against Hybrids for some reason...call me a traditionalist if you like. But seeing how a friend was getting on with his (which came as part of a new iron package he had recently purchased) got me thinking about trying one out. I am in the process of changing my irons and will be going the MX200 route, so decided to try a matching MX Fli-Hi 20 degree 3i. Like a lot of golfers, I don't carry a 3 iron but there are times on the course when you definitely need one, and I felt that something was missing in my bag. I decided to purchase one, and gave it a try the other week-end. First attempt with it resulted in a thinned shot out of the semi, but I think this was just me being too keen to see the results of my new purchase and looking up a little too early! So the next time I needed it, I made a conscious effort to stay down on the shot. Yippee!! Success. A lovely strike, straight as an arrow, and put me in position to make birdie on a longish par 5. On Thursday of this week I was playing a different course. The 8th hole there is a long par 4 that despite me playing many times in the past I had never hit the green in two, having to settle for a chip and a putt par (if I was lucky!). I hit a good drive down the left hand side, pulled out my Fli-Hi, gave it a good smack up the bum and the ball came to rest in the middle of the green! I'm over the moon with my purchase. It certainly fills that gap in my bag, and has given me added confidence that I can go for some of the longer holes now. As the reviewer states above, looking down on the club at address give you a lot of confidence. It just looks so easy to hit. I find the same with the MX200 irons so I can't wait to get my bag sorted out once and for all. One thing is for certain...the MX Fli-Hi will be staying in there, and may even be joined by the 4i equivalent!
