Golf Monthly Verdict
The quality of Bob Vokey's designs is undeniable and the new Titleist Vokey Spin Milled options take wedge custom-fitting to a new level. These are fantastic all-round performers, but particularly excel when it comes to the penetrating flight they produce on full shots. The smooth edge looks great and the black nickel finish is particularly stunning.

I use Callaway X20 irons and got fed up with the lack of versatility of the sand and pitching wedges supplied with the set. I purchased a Vokey spin milled 60-04 lob wedge a year ago to compliment my set but still found that as I tend to slide my irons rather than dig I quite often duffed the shot, especially with the sand wedge, too much bounce! I have now got the new Vokey spin milled 56-11, 52-08 and 48-06. The quality of the clubs is unquestionable in looks and feel and the confidence they give is unbelievable. Using wedges requires confidence to execute a positive stroke to accelerate the club head through the ball, the weighting and balace of these wedges helps promote this and has certainly helped me to drive down my handicap as my approach shots with these clubs nearly always put me within a few feet of the pin. The spin generated by the clubs if the ball is struck with a full swing, can be fierce, stopping the ball dead often causing the ball to spin back but for more delicate touch shots around the green the spin is sufficient to stop the ball with very little roll on, and it is quite predictable. I play with a Titleist Pro V1x ball and I guess this also plays a big part in how I perform with these wedges.

More bounce, loft and finish options than you can shake a small stick at? Check. Excellent versatility and great feel? Check. Beautifully engineered and designed? Check.
These are great clubs and having tried callaway, mizuno and Cleveland wedges these for me were the stand out performer. The consistency of clean strike and distance has helped improve my confidence in my shortened and full swing. As a result I am now stopping the ball much faster on longer approaches and generating a reasonable amount of back spin. Once again with titleist the only real stumbling block may be the price especially as wedges are the clubs you are likely to change most frequently. But even at a higher price I just can't fault them.
If only the loft on my AP1 PW was more than 45 degrees. My dilemma now is do I make do with a 52 & 56 and save space for an extra hybrid/fairway, or do I get a 60 degree lob wedge. Based on how much I love these clubs the lob wedge might win....
