The ‘Gulf Swing’ is under way at the Abu Dhabi Golf Championship. Qatar and Dubai also feature in the coming weeks. So the Race to Dubai is hotting up in more ways than one.

A number of big-name players are doing battle in Abu Dhabi this weekend. Ulsterman Rory McIlroy looks better with every round he plays and he appears certain to contend. Padraig Harrington fired a 66 to move ominously into contention on day two, and Sergio Garcia is by no means out of it. Colin Montgomerie, Paul Casey, Martin Kaymer, Oliver Wilson and Ollie Fisher were all still in the mix after round two.

Next week the Qatar Masters features Ernie Els, Sergio Garcia, Henrik Stenson and Retief Goosen, to name just a few big names, and an even stronger field will be expected for the Dubai Desert Classic at the end of the month.

All this without Tiger Woods. When will the world No.1 return? Who will be picking up the cheques whilst he continues he recovery from knee surgery? Are you missing him even? Visit our online poll.
