Matteo Manassero signs for Callaway Golf
Callaway Golf has announced the signing of four-time European Tour winner Matteo Manassero.
The 20-year-old Italian – widely regarded as one of the world’s most talented youngsters – will play a full complement of Callaway and Odyssey products.
Manassero burst onto the scene as a 16-year-old Amateur-Championship winning teenager in 2009 and became the youngest ever player to make the cut at the Masters the following year.
He claimed his first European Tour title at the 2010 Costello Masters – the youngest winner in European Tour history at 17 years and 188 days – and notched further titles in 2011 and 2012.
In 2013, just a week after turning 20, he showed brilliant skill and control of nerve in defeating Simon Khan in a play-off at the BMW PGA Championship, becoming the youngest winner of the European Tour’s flagship event in the process.
“After testing lots of different products, I am very happy to be joining Callaway and I am really excited to use their whole range of equipment,” said Manassero.
“I’m really impressed with everything so far and the Callaway team has been fantastic. I’m looking forward to starting the 2014 season with my new clubs at the Volvo Golf Champions this week.”
Neil Howie, President of Callaway Golf EMEA, added: “Matteo is a great signing and is reflective of the more youthful, contemporary direction we are taking with the overall brand.
“We are all hugely excited to welcome him to the Callaway family.”
