Six months ago Gonzalo Fernandez-Castaño had serious doubts as to whether he would play golf again, but the Cleveland man was back in fine form at the weekend.

Three weeks on home soil, which included a second in the Castelló Masters and a tied 12th in the Andalucía Masters, had kick-started and at the weekend he won the Barclays Singapore Open.

”It has been a great relief, especially the way I played yesterday.” said Fernandez-Castaño. “It has been a tough year and I got a monkey off my back. It has been three years without a victory and it means a lot to me.”
