Titleist staff professional Rory McIlroy steps into the big time with FootJoy following his stunning US Open victory at Congressional Country Club

Titleist staff professional Rory McIlroy re-wrote the record books in America as

he stormed to an emphatic eight-shot victory in the US Open at Congressional Country Club.

The 22-year old Ulsterman's unprecedented winning score of 16-under par, 268, was testament to

his devastating ball-striking and control.

On his way to victory, McIlroy broke a

total of 12 records including the 36, 54 and 72-hole scoring records. He also became the first player in tournament history to go lower than

12-under-par, reaching an extraordinary 17-under par during Sunday's final round after almost making a hole-in-one on the par-3 10th.

In his bag during US Open week McIlroy had the Titleist Pro V1x golf ball, Titleist 910 D2 driver, 906 F2 fairway woods, MB irons, Vokey Design Wedges and Scotty

Cameron prototype Newport putter. In addition, McIlroy wore the FJ Sport golf shoes and he never looked in danger of relinquishing his lead from the moment he stepped onto the 1st tee.

McIlroy's win takes him up to number four in the Official World Golf Rankings.
