Specialist golf insurance company Golf Care has been announced as the new title sponsor of The Matchplay Championship, the UK's biggest amateur golf event.

The tournament - which celebrates its 10th anniversary this year - will now be known as the Golf Care Matchplay Championship.

The men's pairs, mixed pairs and men's singles tournaments will culminate next month at the renowned Els Club in Dubai, host of the Grand Final.

Finallists will also stay at the five-start JW Marriott Marquis Dubai Hotel.

"We're delighted to announce this partnership between two brands that share the ethos of delivering first-class customer service and unbeatable value for money," said Colin Whitehead, the Golf Care Matchplay Championship's Event Organiser.

"Golf Care and the Matchplay Championship both celebrate their tenth anniversary this year, so this is a partnership that makes perfect sense in what is a special year for both brands.

"We work extensively to deliver our value to our partners and have shared mutually beneficial relationships with the likes of Marriott for the last six years, as well as the Els Club for three years.

"We look forward to a similar long-term affiliation with our new long-term sponsor, Golf Care."

Three-time Ryder Cup captain and Golf Care Ambassador Bernard Gallacher also welcomed the announcement.

"I'm thrilled that Golf Care has decided to back such a fantastic event. It's a unique tournament that welcomes players of all abilities and any event that encourages people to get out and play competitive golf can only be a good thing for the sport."
