Get the right angle of attack on your fairway woods

Create the perfect angle of attack

A sweeping action through impact is the key to success with your fairway woods.

One good drill designed to help you with this is to start the swing with the clubhead a couple of inches away from the ball as shown.

From this position, make a normal swing. You should start to gain a feel for the perfect shallow angle of attack.

I like my pupils to feel as if they are collecting the ball rather than hitting at it – this drill will help you find that sensation.
