Every golfer knows just how powerful (or destructive) the mind can be.

If you can control the way you think about individual shots you’ll be more focused under pressure.

For instance, as you look down a tight fairway, visualise your ideal landing zone.

Take into account where trouble lies, as well as the contours on the fairway.

Choose a safe area that will not punish you unduly for a slightly inaccurate shot. This approach will actually make the target wider – you might have to take more club for your second shot but you are eliminating your chances of a card-busting score.
