Pressure-proof your driving
Throughout your practice session, it’s worth working on your pre-shot routine. Under pressure, relying on a familiar set of actions will prove invaluable.
I advise my pupils to do the following; stand behind the ball visualise the flight of the shot and make a meaningful practice swing (this acts as a dress rehearsal, preparing your mind and body for the swing). Then as you take your address position pick a spot just in front of your ball to aim at. Finally, add a trigger at the end of the routine – I like to address the ball from the toe, then slide the club into position.
This marks the point at which you are fully prepared and ready to make a great swing.
