Train the perfect tempo

Trying to hit the ball too hard to generate a few extra yards will cost timing and accuracy. This simple drill ensures a smooth tempo for more consistent ball striking. As you take the club back say "Severiano". It should take as long to say the name as it does to reach the top of your backswing from the address position.

If you reach the top of your backswing and you've only said "Seve", you're swinging too fast. Then, from the top through to impact, say "Ballesteros". Work on hitting balls with this smooth rhythm, you'll find your upper and lower body will work together in synchronisation.
