Attacking par 5s

Go for the green!

Offering extra loft and greater carry than a long iron, a rescue club will help you attack par 5s without running through the green. I tend not to shape the ball through the air but I will increase the trajectory of my approach to ensure a soft landing.

At address, move the ball forward in your stance and place more weight on your right side. At impact your hands will be fractionally behind the clubhead – adding loft to the shot.

Your hands should be as high as possible in the follow-through to ensure a powerful release through impact.

This will increase backspin to help the ball climb high into the air.
