If Stenson can do it in his pants, you can do it without your shoes on.

When your ball trickles tantalisingly into a water hazard, you may face a dilemma over whether to take a drop or try and advance the ball down the fairway.

Providing you can take a stable stance there is one golden rule that will help you decide whether or not to play it.

If the ball is more than half submerged, take a drop.

If more than half the ball is above the water you can take the shot on.

Make sure you keep the clubface square to limit the bounce and set the ball back in your stance so that your downswing is steep and you don’t loose crucial clubhead speed through impact.
