Work on the rhythm of your putting stroke

Develop a smooth tempo

A precise feel for the pace of the putting surface enables you to attack the hole, confident that a tricky three footer isn't lying in wait.

Success comes from a rhythmical putting stroke that's the same speed every time. Develop a smooth tempo by making a series of practice swings with one hand on the grip.

The weight in the head guides your hands at a steady pace through the swing. Alternatively, make a practice swing without a putter. This allows you to feel the movement of the triangle between your shoulders and hands. Without a ball to strike, your hands are free to accelerate naturally.
