Learn not to allow for too much break on short putts
I often see amateurs allow for too much break when they putt from close range.
Aiming outside the hole is risky from inside 5ft so it's important to develop trust in the fact that the ball will not break too much.
Find a 3ft putt with a decent amount of break and place a tee peg behind the hole on the side from which the ball will break.
Aim at the tee and you'll see how little the putt bends. This drill will convince you to aim straighter from close range.

This is a really interesting tip and I have ben guilty of missing more than a few putts this way and will try this tip out on Sunday when I hit the course.
If this is being expanded into a series what would be really helpful is any advice on reading the pace of a winter green. This is an area I'm really struggling with at the moment. I'll have seemingly identical 12 foot putts on two different holes. Will use the same length back and through swing one will stop 2 feet short the other will go four feet long! Any guidance on this greatly appreciated.
