Pefect tempo on pitch shots

Tempo for pitching

Barney Puttick teaches how to control tempo on pitch shots.

Far too often I hear players describe their pitch shot as a 'flick'. But this immediately creates the wrong mind set, inspiring you to employ too much wrist action.

Prevent this from costing you control by hitting some practice shots with another ball placed behind the blade of your wedge.

Concentrate on pushing this ball away smoothly as you take the club back.

The only way to prevent it from shooting off rapidly is to keep your wrists firm, setting a smooth tempo from the start.
