How to play a half pitch shot

How to play a half pitch shot

When facing a half pitch it’s important to first make a few minor adjustments to your address position. Narrow your stance a fraction, stand slightly closer to the ball and place a little more weight on your left side than you would normally. These tweaks will help you make a more compact swing and find a consistently crisp strike.

Now think about the swing itself – a good concept is to feel that your right arm is working in time with the rotation of your body. So you should feel as if these two components are moving as one through the ball. This simple swing thought will ensure your arms and body remain synchronised, thereby improving your accuracy.
