Golf Instruction and golf tips - Understanding slopes
To be a percentage player you need to know how the ball will react when you play from slopes. This will improve your judgement of club selection, aim and distance control. Most golfers know to aim right when the ball is above their feet but in the opposite scenario the opposite rules DO NOT apply.
Let me explain. When the ball is above your feet the clubface will automatically point a fraction left (I’ve attached a tee to the face of my club to highlight this). But when the ball is below your feet the flex of your knees will absorb the slope.
As a result, the angle of the shaft and the clubface position remain as they would if you were playing from a flat lie. Be sure not to aim too far left when the ball is below your feet or you will encourage a slice.
