Hole-by-Hole Guide - Hole 12
Monday 31st March 2008
Golden Bell
Par 3
155 yards
2007 average score: 3.401
5th most difficult hole in 2007
Perhaps the most famous short hole in the history of golf. With Rae's Creek running in front of the putting surface this is a challenge of club selection and distance control.
The wind swirls above the level of the trees, causing players to hit anything from a 6 to a 9-iron. Not only is there the creek but the green is skinny and has three bunkers, one in front and two at the back – beautifully dangerous.
