Havret watch – Wednesday

Further news of the cool Frenchman just ahead of his Wednesday practice round...

As you may know from Fergus's previous blog, the Golf Monthly team has officially adopted smooth-swinging Frenchman, Gregory Havret, as its 2008 Open mascot.

To keep you up to date with Havret's pre-tournament preparations I can report that I spotted him this morning on the Ping tour truck enjoying a cheeky mid-practice espresso (what other choice of caffeine for such a suave customer?), sporting a cool pair of shades and a stylish all-cream jumper/trouser combo.

He looked relaxed and ready to go and is currently scheduled to enjoy a 12.50pm practice round with countrymen, Gregory Bourdy, Jose-Filipe Lima and a just-announced addition to the group, Carnoustie calamity, Jean van de Velde. You can probably almost smell the garlic just reading this.

More news later on how he's hitting it in today's tricky wind
