The draw for the opening round has been released and Tiger has his usual TV friendly 9am kick off alongside Lee Westwood and Japanese sensation Ryo Ishikawa – it is estimated that three quarters of the world’s photographers will be following this group. Hitting the first tee shot of the ’09 Open will be Paul Broadhurst. I’ve interviewed Broady a couple of times in the past and despite completely blanking me outside the clubhouse yesterday I wish him all the best as he plays away at 6.30 with Michael Campbell and Mark Calcavecchia.

Out with the bin men in the final group of the day is the rather unlucky Terry Pilkadaris. The Aussie, who had the same draw two years ago at Carnoustie, may get some of the day’s best conditions even if the atmosphere isn’t quite the same. I’d be there to offer my support but the GM team are going to Ayr for a curry tomorrow night, it’s an annual event that I hate to miss.

Below is listed the tee times for some notable players:

Adam Scott – 7.25
Sergio Garcia – 7.58
Luke Donald – 8.42
Ross Fisher – 12.46
Ernie Els – 12.58
Justin Rose – 1.09
Rory McIlroy – 1.31
Ian Poulter – 1.53
Padraig Harrington – 2.20

PS – Fergus needs some fresh air. Having sat in the media centre for the last two hours contemplating how the event will unfold he has come up with some very unusual and unlikely bets. Fergus, there is a reason that Richard S Johnson is 400-1… Don’t do it!
