It was moving day at The Golf Care Matchplay Championship at The Els Club in Dubai, with several players making significant steps towards their respective tournament titles.

Paul Llewellyn, last years' winner in the Men's Singles, showed the same grit that earned him the with 38 points and a round of 75 in tough conditions.

In the Men's Pairs event, Martin Ferth and Andrew Taylor, who finished 9th last year, currently hold a two-shot lead over nearest rivals, Geoff Edgar and Matt Blair from Ireland. Ferth and Taylor scored an impressive 41 points to storm in front of the field in a betterball stableford format.

In the Mixed Pairs, Martin Pyke and Anne Wheble from Dartford built on their strong start yesterday. The pair boast a six shot advantage over the rest of the field.

With one round remaining there is still everything to play for in Dubai; players will now rest up back at the renowned 5-star JW Marriott Marquis Hotel before the final round.

Anne Wheble, leader in the mixed pairs final, said: "The course is fantastic, we've got a slight lead but are not going to take anything for granted. We are having an early night tonight and hope to celebrate properly tomorrow evening."

Defending champion, Paul Llewellyn, added: "Three-over gross was a pretty good effort for me out there today and it looks like tomorrow might be a bit of a shootout between myself and Maartens. He is a good player and hits the ball well, so I expect it to go down to the wire."
