The prestigious Golf and Spa resort Stoke Park is set to host X-Factor style auditions at the end of October in order to find new golf talent.
The day – which will be held on the 27th October – is open to golfers between 10-16 and will include a number of skills sessions designed to test all aspects of the youngsters’ games.
The judges panel will be made up of a number of teaching pros including Stuart Rank, head of Golf Instruction at Stoke Park. They will be on the lookout for players who show the potential to be top golfers in the future.
Short-listed players will be invited back for an interview in order to whittle the list down to just five. Those selected will win scholarships allowing them to take advantage of the top class facilities on offer at Stoke park; including full membership to the Harry Colt designed championship course, golf and gym training and video analysis in the Swing Studio.
The scheme is designed to nurture the next generation of elite golfers and is the brainchild of the Stoke Park members, who have demonstrated their support for the initiative by contributing half of the scholarship fund.
Mike Fretwell, Golf Captain at Stoke Park, said: ‘We have the privilege of being able to play on one of the country’s finest courses, with fantastic facilities. It is our passion for club development which brought about this idea, as we are keen to develop the junior game.’
