Graham Goodman, a 1-handicapper, made history when he recorded a hole-in-one on the 4th hole at Saffron Walden Golf Club, a 362-yard par 4.
Goodman‘s shot marked the first hole-in-one at the dogleg 4th hole in the club’s 91-year history.
On Tuesday, April 27, a left-to-right wind presented an enticing tee-shot around the corner to the 4th green at Saffron Walden. Goodman – playing with his friend Mick Bush – hit a fading 5-wood over the trees, intending to land short of the green.
Both players walked near the hole and spent a good time looking for Goodman’s ball. The 1-handicap golfer then looked in the hole and, to his amazement, there was the Titleist ball.
Goodman said afterwards “It was truly an unbelievable shot as normally I play the hole with a 4-iron and then an 8-iron into the green.
“Because it was a friendly with Mick, I decided to go for the green and it went in.”
