The 3 Hammers Golf Complex was designed by Sir Henry Cotton in 1964 and it was the first of its type in Europe. Complex Owner Ian Bonser bought the business in 1986 and it has continued to go from strength to strength culminating in a £1 million investment over the last 2 years and now stands as a comprehensive and unique golfing experience.
The 3 Hammers provides the following facilities:-
• 18 hole Sir Henry Cotton designed short course
• 23 bay undercover, carpeted, heated, floodlit driving range with automated tees
• 100 seater, air conditioned bar & bistro
• 4,000sq ft Golf Shop which is the Regional Fitting Centre for Mizuno
• 3 full time PGA Golf Professionals
• Indoor Golf Performance Studio including 4 camera system and 3D K-Vest teaching technology
• Fully air conditioned Golf Fitness Area
• Indoor putting green
• Outdoor 10,000sq ft Learn 2 Play Golf Academy
“We pride ourselves on offering a wide range of high quality golfing facilities for our customers,” says Bonser.
“We also understand our customers expect superb value for money and our new, indoor and outdoor golf facilities make practice and learning so much more comfortable and affordable, irrespective of the weather”.
The 3 Hammers Golf Complex attracts over 200,000 visitors every year and is very much at the grass roots level of the game. On a typical weekend over 100 juniors participate in the Complex’s YMG programmes making it the number 1 venue for junior golf in the Midlands and number 6 in the UK.
Bonser adds: “If someone wants to learn how to play golf we are offering them the perfect place to do it. With group classes running throughout the week the Learn 2 Play Academy is an interesting and fun environment for people of all ages to experience the game of golf”.
The Complex has seen at least 8 juniors go through their teaching programmes to ultimately go on to become established PGA Golf Professionals. The 3 Hammers also caters for the better players with Tour Professionals, County players and elite golfers alike all using the new Golf Performance Studio.
As well as being first class exponents of the golf swing, lead professionals Andrew Proudman and Piers Ward are both TPI certified Golf Fitness Instructors and Neuro Linguistic Programming practitioners (the mental approach to the game) which makes them ideally placed to interpret the detailed information collated by the K-Vest system.
