American Golf has signed a six-month television sponsorship agreement with Sky Sports, with activity starting around the the coverage of the WGC-Cadillac Championship.

Europe’s largest golf retailer will be promoted against all European Tour, World Golf Championship and PGA Tour coverage across all Sky Sports golf platforms.

The campaign will feature American Golf indents around coverage, along with brand presence on skysports.com, the mobile app, Sky Go and On Demand.

“We are as passionate about golf as the people who watch it,” said Daniel Gathercole, Head of Marketing at American Golf.

“By sponsoring Sky Sports golf we will be right there with avid golf fans week in, week out, which is really exciting for us.

“We are committed to investing in growing the game and working with Sky Sports is a really important vehicle to achieving that.”

The sponsorship activity will be an extension of a previous American Golf campaign built around improving customers’ games.

The retailer will use one of its own staff PGA Professionals, Andrew Moseley, in the indents.

“This is a huge year for golf on Sky Sports so it is the perfect place for American Golf to engage with its current and new consumers,” said David Shore, Head of Sponsorship at Sky Media.

Sky sponsorship is one of a number of new recent initiatives from American Golf, another one being a partnership with grass-roots charity the Golf Foundation.
