British Captains' Tournament

Chartham Park Golf Club and Silverstone Golf Club have won the British Captains’ Tournament, in the mens and ladies events respectively, which took place in Vilamoura, Portugal.

Bob Boorman and Nicky Turbayne were the winning captains following a 2-day shoot-out at Oceânico Pinhal and Oceânico Millenium.

Qualifying took place in regional contests over late summer and autumn, after which the finalists headed to Portugal’s golf capital Vilamoura for a stableford decider.

The captains’ scores were taken on each hole and combined with the best score from one of three team members, with the highest 2-day score deciding the winner.

Bob Boorman battled his way to victory despite suffering from an illness, and he was well supported by Colin White, Nigel Sopp and Paul Wilkin.

In the ladies contest Nicky Turbayne was ably supported by Janet Cox, Denise Turvey and Pat Ward, to give the Northamptonshire club a deserved victory.

The runners-up spots were taken by Chris Leggate of Sand Martins Golf Club in Berkshire in the mens event, and Sue Anderson of Crondon Park Golf Club in Essex in the ladies.    Where next?
