The Golf Foundation is searching for a new Chief Executive to spearhead its efforts to grow the game.

The charity - founded in 1952 - aims to make the game more accessible to children from different backgrounds and provide both life and technical skills to youngsters of all abilities.

The Golf Foundation's HSBC Golf Roots programme engages with hundreds of thousands of children each month in schools and communities, creating opportunities for children at golf club level through direct links with many institutions.

The initiative - which has ambitious fund-raising targets - is supported by The R&A, the European Tour, The PGA, the Ryder Cup committee and Trust, England Golf, The BGIA, Sport England and headline sponsor HSBC.

The new Chief Executive will manage a strategy that is at the heart of golf's drive to grow player participation.

Former Golf Foundation Chief Executive Mike Round left at the end of August to take up a position with the Ladies European Tour after 14 years with the charity.

"People in golf recognise the outstanding job that Mike did in his time as Chief Executive," said Golf Foundation Chairman Charles Harrison.

"It is really important that his successor also brings the highest values, enthusiasm and determination to the role to ensure that this charity continues to excel and develop in the future.

"The right candidate will have a genuine appreciation of the need to encourage the next generation of young golfers from all backgrounds, the varied skill set required to run a highly respected national organisation and the ability to work well with, and influence, leading figures from the world of golf and business."

The search for the new Chief Executive is being supported by Sports Recruitment International.
