Oscar Jacobson to sponsor Volvo World Match Play

Swedish apparel brand Oscar Jacobson has announced a sponsorship deal with the Volvo World Match Play, which takes place at The London Golf Club in Kent later this month.

All tournament staff, volunteers and marshals will be kitted out in its autumn/winter 2014 collection as the competition returns to British shores for the first time since 2007.

Sixteen of the world’s best golfers will be competing for a €650,000 top prize with Graeme McDowell defending the title he won at Thracian Cliffs in Bulgaria last year.

The Nicklaus-designed International course will see the 50th anniversary staging of the event, which runs from October 15-19.

Gunnar Hedendahl, global sales and marketing director at Oscar Jacobson, commented: “We have supported the Volvo golf events in Europe and China for the past four years and are delighted to be one of several corporate sponsors for the 50th anniversary event at The London Club, one of our key accounts in the UK.”

The 2014 autumn/winter collection uses high-tech, eco-friendly, performance-enhancing fabrics. The new 2-in-1 Murray waterproof comprises a windproof and waterproof outer jacket - made from a four-way stretch fabric for flexibility and movement - with a separate inner bonded fleece.

For warmth, the Mulligan and Manny jackets are available, made from a lightweight PrimaLoft padding material to keep the warmth in without adding unwanted bulk.

The collection, available in three colour stories - Classic Resort, Contemporary Club and Black Watch - also comprises a comprehensive range of long and short-sleeve shirts; turtleneck shirts like the Ron Thermal; 100 per cent extra-fine Merino wool sweaters like the Larry and the Kent/Kent Tour; and a number of half-zip tops in a variety of fabrics and styles to suit all weather conditions.

Many of the garments can combine to deliver OJ’s three-layer weather protection system courtesy of base layers that are light and breathable to wick moisture away and regulate temperature, mid-layers that retain body heat while further wicking away moisture, and outer layers that have been designed to repel the weather’s best efforts while allowing you to still swing freely.
