Richmond (Yorks) Golf Club Enjoys Successful 2013

The relatively small Richmond Golf Club enjoyed huge success throughout 2013. Most notably, the Richmond ladies came away victorious at the 2013 Volvo National Golf Club Challenge at Turnberry in Ayrshire.

In addition to taking home the impressive Wedgewood trophy, the Richmond team of Linda Hall, Lynn Wilson, Ruth Lightfoot, Eileen McMullen, and Vicky Matthers, all win a trip to Aphrodite Hills, Cyprus. Vicky Matthers also won the individual event and is Volvo NGCC Champion 2013. She will travel to Dubai to play in the Volvo World Golf Challenge.

Earlier in 2013, Stewart Thompson and Rosie Kipling won the Mill Volvo Masters at Close House. Rosie was the first ever lady to play in the event, and the pair won a break staying and playing at Wentworth with the use of a Volvo for the trip courtesy of Mill Garages.

Gary Catt and Eileen McMullan played in the “HowDidIDo” Area Final at Carrdrona Golf Club in Scotland recently, and with a score of 39 points they have qualified for the Grand Final at Portuguese venue Quinta Do Lago in February.

Richmond Ladies also won this year’s Yorkshire A Team Interclub Championship. The team played Bondhay in the morning semi-final, winning 4:3, and went on to win the final in the afternoon beating Wath to win the title.
