2012 Curtis Cup set for Nairn

The biennial clash between GB&I and the USA heads to North-East Scotland

The Ladies' Golf Union has announced the venue for the 38th Curtis Cup is to be The Nairn Golf Club in North-East Scotland. Situated on the southern shore of the Moray Firth, Nairn has stood as one of Britain?s finest links layouts since it was opened in 1887.

The biennial clash between Great Britain and Ireland and America will be the latest in a long line of prestigious events held at the club including the Walker Cup and the Scottish Amateur Championships. Fierce rough and inevitably brisk winds will test the mettle of some of the finest amateur golfers in the world.

?We could not have chosen a more welcoming club or more testing venue for the match,? said Susan Simpson, director of championships for the LGU. ?It was a very difficult decision but I have no doubt that we have made a wise choice in Nairn. Our past experience of the club and course has been without fault.?
