Have you ever dreamt of having a golf course named after you? Well now take a deep breath and imagine naming a course nestled cosily in the home of golf? still dreaming? The Old Course, the New, the Jubilee and the ?Luke Norman?? if that doesn?t work so well for you then wake up and enter the St Andrews Links Trust?s competition to name the latest course being constructed in the historic St Andrews area.
The number seven course, as it is known at the moment, is currently under construction and will be open for play in 2008. It occupies 220 acres of stunning cliff top land, to the east of the old town.
For your chance to put your own paw print on 600 years of golfing history, log on to www.standrews.org.uk between November 1 and December 1 and enter your suggestion. The best names will be reviewed and submitted to the course number seven working party, which will reveal its chosen name in January 2007.
The competition winner will be invited to play one of the first rounds on the new course, as well as being present at the naming ceremony. So it?s time to get creative and try and leave your indelible mark on what is sure to be another piece of revered golfing ground.
